This fountain played

I always doubted the veracity of the nearby plaque that said that this fountain once played in Trafalgar Square until I saw this -

One of a pair, it was designed in 1840 by Sir Charles Barry (architect of the Houses of Parliament at Westminster). The stone basin is red Peterhead granite. In 1939,they were removed and replaced with much larger fountains designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens [although the plaque says 1948]. Both discards were donated to Canada - one to Ottawa and the other to Regina Saskatchewan where it sits at the Wascana Centre. When first dedicated in 1955 the fountain nestled against the western approach to the Laurier Avenue bridge. With the creation of Confederation Park in 1975 it was given pride of place.
